Ádám Hideg, the 16-year-old Hungarian karting world championship silver medalist driver demonstrated continuous improvement and received recognition from his Swiss team at the recent round of the Formula 4 Winter Series held in Valencia last weekend.
The driver from the Hungarian Motorsport Academy has a chaotic weekend behind him. On Saturday, the track limits control system malfunctioned during qualifying, resulting in the cancellation of the entire session. As a result, the starting grid for Sunday's two races was determined based on the results of the practice sessions. Despite this setback, Ádám Hideg fought in the midfield throughout all three races, bringing the Jenzer Motorsport's blue-painted car across the finish line. He emerged as the most successful driver within the team, which employs four drivers.
Krisztián Ferencz, Ádám Hideg's manager noted the driver's ongoing development and emphasized that the team gave him top marks for his performance over the weekend. He highlighted that in the Winter Series, the primary focus isn't solely on the results achieved but rather on confronting as many unexpected challenges as possible.
We are here for Ádám to learn as much as possible, gain experience, and be better prepared for the Italian championship. Based on two weekends, we see what works well and which areas still need improvement. It's also clear to us what technical modifications could further enhance our performance, and we discuss this with the team
- stated Ferencz, emphasizing that Hideg couldn't be overtaken in any of the races in Valencia, where he consistently made overtakes and improved his starting positions.
As the season progresses, Ádám Hideg will also participate in the Italian F4 Championship. The Winter Series, consisting of four race weekends, serves as preparation for this and helps him become more accustomed to racing with Jenzer's race car.
The F4 Winter Series continues on the first three days of March at the Alcañiz circuit in Aragon, known from MotoGP and touring car racing. It concludes on March 8-9-10 at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, which hosts the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1.
