Ádám Hideg concluded the third round of the Formula 4 Winter Series in Alcañiz, Spain, with two podium finishes over the weekend.
The 16-year-old driver from the Hungarian Motorsport Academy started the second race on Sunday from 18th place but managed to finish seventh in the field of 38 drivers, securing third place among the rookies. In the final race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, Hideg Ádám crossed the finish line in 11th place with his Jenzer Motorsport car numbered 24. However, post-race penalties issued by the race stewards for track limit violations bumped up several drivers, including Hideg, resulting in him being classified ninth. Nevertheless, this earned him another third-place finish among the rookies.
Hideg displayed impressive performance throughout the entire weekend, finishing 12th in the first race held on Saturday, making him the most successful driver within his team for the third time during the weekend.
Reflecting on the weekend's experiences, Hideg Ádám mentioned adjustments made to the car setup based on the first two weekends' learnings and expressed confidence in their direction.
While we still have issues during qualifying sessions, our race pace is solid. It seems like we are faster than others towards the end of the races, probably due to tire pressure. The important thing is that we can make progress during the races and always improve our starting position
– said Hideg. Despite losing positions in the first corner of the second race, he managed to climb from 21st to seventh place, which he was naturally pleased with, especially considering it meant a podium finish among the rookies.
Hideg is currently the only point-scoring driver for Jenzer Motorsport in the Winter Series, and he stands at the 19th position in the overall standings, which include 46 drivers.
As the season progresses, Hideg will also compete in the Italian F4 Championship. The Winter Series, consisting of four race weekends, serves as preparation for this and helps him become more accustomed to racing with Jenzer's race car.
The F4 Winter Series concludes in a week's time at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, which also hosts the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1.
