Ádám Hideg made his debut in the Formula 4 Winter Series, the first round of this year's F4 winter racing series, last weekend in Jerez, Spain, amidst varying weather conditions and a large field of 38 competitors, representing Jenzer Motorsport.
The 16-year-old Hungarian driver, a silver medalist in karting at the world championships, got off to a strong start in the program. During the rainy Friday test session, he finished at the top with a lead of more than three seconds.
In the Saturday race, which lasted 30 minutes plus one lap, Ádám Hideg managed to improve his starting position with several overtakes, finishing on 18th place, marking his first F4 race. Perhaps even more importantly, among Jenzer Motorsport's four drivers, the Hungarian driver finished highest, and among the rookies, he secured seventh place.
On Sunday, competitors had to battle rainy conditions once again. Despite qualifying 14th, Hideg couldn't convert this into a favorable position in the race. However, in the Sunday afternoon's final race, showing excellent performance on the steadily drying track, the Hungarian driver finished 15th. Once again, Hideg delivered the best result for Jenzer Motorsport in this race, demonstrating respectable performance overall in his debut F4 race weekend.
As the season progresses, the driver from the talent development system of the Hungarian Motorsport Academy, created and operated by the HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency belonging to the Széchenyi University Group, will also compete in the Italian F4 Championship. The Winter Series, consisting of four race weekends, serves as preparation for this, and helps Hideg get accustomed to racing with Jenzer's race car.
After the opening round in Jerez, the F4 Winter Series continues this weekend in Valencia, followed by the third round in Alcañiz, on the Aragon circuit, in the first three days of March. The winter preparation series concludes on March 8-9-10 at the Circuit de Catalunya, located near Barcelona, which hosts the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1.
